WHY IS AMETHYST SUCH A POPULAR GEMSTONE?

Maybe it's because my birthstone is amethyst ... or maybe it's because back in university when  everyone was telling everyone else what "color" you remind them  of (I got colored "iridescent purple") that I have always loved and been drawn to amethyst jewelry. There's something about that violet purple gemstone that I find soothing, calming.

And from what I've been reading, for those who believe in the healing powers of gemstones, that is indeed one of the powers of amethyst. "Having a piece in the bedroom will promote restful sleep and peaceful dreaming". Well apart from the jewelry we have (rings, bracelets, necklaces ... watch the video above to see what's available at DIVINE FINDS JEWELRY at RUBY LANE and DIVINE FINDS JEWELRY at RUBY PLAZA) we also have several huge pieces of raw amethyst around our home, similar to the one shown here:

We never purchased these rocks for any purpose other than we simply love the iridescence, sparkle and rich deep purple color of amethyst, but researching this gemstone has yielded even more interesting information:

"Amethyst comes from the Greek word 'amethustos'... meaning non-drunk. One of the interesting facts about Amethyst is that the ancient Greeks made cups from the purple stone as they believed it could prevent you from becoming inebriated.

This Amethyst meaning has been found to be true ... as healers use it today as it assists you to beat addictions.... and this was also believed by the ancient Greeks.
If you have addictive habits such as smoking, drinking or drug addictions you may be assisted by using Amethyst crystals"

Well I don't know how true any of that is, but if you believe in the power of gemstones, and feel you could benefit from what amethyst has to offer, then we have plenty of amethyst jewelry pieces in our DIVINE FINDS JEWELRY SHOPS to  fill your need. Here's one of our most recent additions to DIVINE FINDS JEWELRY at RUBY LANE:

It's a 34" long necklace of 1/4" to 5/16" genuine, irregular-shaped amethyst gemstones, and it weighs a whopping 93 grams! These are smoothly polished stones with a beautiful rich purple color. Hold them up to the light and look right  through. Touch them ... cool, soothing, lovely. Here's another shot closeup:

We've also added the SWAROVSKI amethyst crystal and simulated pearl beads shown below to our DIVINE FINDS JEWELRY SHOP at RUBY PLAZA today.

In either DIVINE FINDS JEWELRY SHOP, just type "amethyst" into the search box to bring up all amethyst jewelry and add an amethyst ring, bracelet or necklace to your collection today.
